Korg SP280BK Digital Piano Review

I like the sound of Korg digital pianos. Their sound is sampled from Steinway acoustic pianos. And the Korg SP280BK doesn’t make an exception from this rule. It sounds very natural. I’ve tested different Korg digital pianos over the years and I found this one to have strong fundamental aspects such as: weighted keys, great speakers and excellent piano sounds. This last model from Korg is quite impressive. They’re not necessarily the main players in the digital piano world. They’re known more for their professional sound equipment. But the SP280 is comparable to other digital pianos. The fact that it has a very competitive price, compared to other pianos, makes its good features shine even more.

One of the impressive features of the Korg SP280BK is the internal audio power and speaker system. It has 2 speakers, each of 22 Watts. So, if you’re looking for a digital piano with a high volume output, this is the best choice to go with. It has the most powerful speaker system in its price range.

The Korg SP280BK has a nice and very contemporary design with rounded corners. The buttons on the control panel are easy to use, intelligently displayed in the center of the piano above the keys. Although being a bit too basic, the buttons offer good function control.

An important aspect, these days, is connectivity. Many electronic devices these days use USB connectivity, like the iPad. Korg did include a MIDI in and out, that you can connect to a MIDI to USB converter.

All in all it’s a good digital piano. Korg SP280BK makes a perfect choice if you’re looking for a basic digital piano with good features and a high output volume.
