Yamaha YPT-240

The Yamaha YPT-240 keyboard has versatile functions and sounds. This is the ideal musical instrument for people aspiring to be musicians but are just getting started. This keyboard features Ultra wide Stereo technology for the production of great sound and a wide stereo image. One important learning feature is the Yamaha Education Suite functions. These lesson functions enable a selected song to be played back and get adjusted continuously to a tempo relative to the performance of the player. It is also possible to connect this keyboard with an iPad, iPhone or an iPod touch. This capability will enhance and extend the keyboard’s experience. However, to connect it to a mobile device, an additional accessory is required. This is the i-UX1.

The overall sound output can be optimized with a different EQ setting on the keyboard. This makes it capable to alter and tailor the sound output for an optimized sound in listening situations which are different. It is possible to produce an ultra-wide stereo since the Yamaha YPT-240 is equipped with Yamaha’s very own technology for processing digital signals. This technology makes the creation of a stereo image which is wider than the speakers possible.

The Yamaha YPT-240 measures 945 millimeters by width, 117 millimeters by height and 347 millimeters by depth. Its total weight is only 4 kilograms. The total number of keys on this keyboard is 61 and they respond to touch. There is also a custom liquid crystal display and a control panel, everything efficiently put together. The technology for generating tones in this keyboard is AWM Stereo type Sampling and it has a maximum number of 32 polyphony. The preset number of voices is 385 and it is both GM and XGlite compatible. It has a playback format of SMF and one disadvantage is that this format cannot be changed when recording.

The different types of effects available on this keyboard are; master EQ, reverb, ultra-wide stereo, chorus and it also has a panel sustain function in the menu. There are 100 styles which have been preset and it also supports custom user styles. This keyboard has a tempo range of 32-280, a transpose of -12 to 0 and 0 to +12. A piano button is also available and metronome and tuning are enabled. Power can be supplied using the power adapter of specification PA-3C/PA-130, six “AA” size rechargeable batteries or a DC input of 12 volts and there is one output slot for headphones as well as a USB to host. Its power consumption is about 8 watts with the PA-130. An optional footswitch AUX pedal is also available.
